Rivers Crisis: Policemen Withdrawn From Amaechi’s Loyalist.

The political crisis rocking Rivers state, southsouth Nigeria, took a new dimension when on Thursday the State Police Command ordered the withdrawal of Mobile Policemen guarding the Okrika Local Government boss and the council secretariat.

The withdrawal of the policemen from Mr Tamuno Williams, the chairman of Okrika Local Government Council, who is Governor Rotimi Amaechi’s loyalist, followed his interview on Channels Television, during which he condemned the sealing off of Obio Akpor council secretariat by the police, which he considered illegal.

Williams, confirmed it was true that all the Mobile Policemen who had until Thursday morning provided security for the council and himself, had been withdrawn without notice.

According to him, he was yet to be told officially who ordered the withdrawal of the policemen. He said when he tried to find out who directed the withdrawal of the policemen he was told that it was “an order from above”.

“All the mobile policemen attached to the council and my office have been withdrawn. No name has been mentioned as to who might have given the order for the withdrawal. Everybody has just been saying ‘order from above’. As I am talking to you now we are without police protection,” William said.

The state’s Police Commissioner, Mbu Joseph Mbu, declined to speak on the issue.

Angela Agabe, DSP, the new Police Public Relations Officer of the Command, who resumed duty Thursday, said she had got across to the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in Okrika and was still expecting details of what happened from him.

The Commissioner for Information and Communications, Mrs Ibim Semenitari, expressed shock at the action of the police, saying it is becoming increasingly difficult not to believe that the police in the state had not been compromised.

She expressed worry that a council like Okrika where many federal economic installations are located could be subjected to a situation that exposes it to danger as the police had done.

“It is difficult at this point now to determine if this is about misjudgement or if indeed the police commissioner is doing these things. It is worrisome when you hear that a local government chairman goes on air and immediately after, the police commissioner directs the Mopol commander to withdraw the Mopol attached to Okrika. You then no longer understand what exactly is going on, whether it is about politics or about security because in a place like Okrika, it will be unthinkable that the police commissioner will ask that the Mopol in Okrika be withdrawn.

“Nobody can explain that and that is where you have vital federal installations. So what is this about? I really had, up till now, chosen to believe that the CP was not involved in any of these shenanigans going on, but with this latest thing now, I’m beginning to have cause to worry and I really hope that I am still correct,” Semenitari said.

Okiro Not Fit For Police Service Commission Chair —Falana.

Okiro Not Fit For Police Service Commission Chair —Falana.

 by pmnews.

Lagos lawyer and human rights activist, Mr. Femi Falana has called on President Goodluck Jonathan to withdraw the nomination of Mr. Mike Okiro as the Chairman of the Police Service Commission, PSC.

In line with the provisions of the Constitution, President Goodluck Jonathan yesterday forwarded the name of Okiro, a former Inspector-General of Police, to the Senate for confirmation as Chairman of the PSC.

In a statement, Falana faulted the nomination of Okiro, saying it is against the provisions of the constitution.

The activist submitted that while Okiro was qualified for the position on account of his experience, he is disqualified by virtue of his membership of the ruling party.

Until last month, Okiro was the Chief of Staff to the PDP chairman, Alhaji Bamanga Tukur.

According to Falana: “The Police Service Commission is one of the Federal Executive bodies established under Section 153 of the Constitution. Section 156 provides that a member of any of such bodies ‘shall not be required to belong to a political party.’

“More importantly, Section 42 of the Constitution provides that no citizen of Nigeria shall be conferred with any advantage or privilege that is not accorded to citizens of other political opinions. Furthermore, article 13(3) of the African Charter on Human and People’s Rights Act stipulates that all citizens shall have equal access to the public service of the country without discrimination whatsoever.”

Falana argued further that going by these clear provisions of the laws, a body which is empowered to recruit and discipline all police personnel other than the Inspector-General of Police is expected to be constituted by non partisan individuals of unimpeachable integrity.

“As a loyal party member of the PDP, Mr. Okiro is politically alligned and biased. Accordingly, he is not competent to head the Police Service Commission which is part of the public service of the country to which all Nigerian citizens have equal access, regardless of political affliations. Knowing his antecedents in the Nigeria Police Force, Mr. Okiro is going to manipulate the members of the Commission to serve the parochial interests of the Peoples Democratic Party,” he added.

He appealed to President Jonathan to replace Okiro’s name with another competent Nigerian who is not a card carrying member of any of the registered political parties in the country.

“Having regard to the fact that President Jonathan had in the past removed registered members of the PDP from the leadership of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Offences Commission (ICPC) and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Mr Mike Okiro’s nomination should be withdrawn from the Senate and replaced with the name of another competent Nigerian who is not a card carrying member of any of the registered political parties in the country,” he stated.

Nigeria police free 17 pregnant girls in raid

Nigerian police have found 17 pregnant teenage girls in a raid on a house, and were searching Friday for a woman suspected of planning to sell their babies, a spokeswoman said.
Joy Elomoko of the southeastern Imo state police said all the girls were between 14 and 17 years old and that 11 small children were also found in the house.
Some locals believed the building called the Ahamefula Motherless Babies Home served as an orphanage and shelter for expecting mothers.
"Acting on a tip-off, a special unit of the Imo State police command raided the illegal home in Umuaka on Wednesday and rescued 17 girls, aged between 14 and 17, at different stages of pregnancies," Elomoko told AFP.
"The girls claimed they were fed once a day and were not allowed to leave the home," she added.
The girls told police that their babies were to be sold to "willing buyers," Elomoko said.
It was not clear if the girls were brought to the home by force.
The girls further told police that they had been impregnated by a 23-year-old man who is currently in custody, along with the security guard who worked at the compound.
"The proprietress of the home is at large, but we have launched a man-hunt for her," Elomoko said.
In a human trafficking report released last month, the European Union identified Nigeria as the African country where the scourge is most common.
The report said the selling of children was widespread and Nigerian police have previously uncovered so-called baby factories.
In May of 2011 in southeastern Abia state, police freed 32 pregnant girls who said they had been offered to sell their babies for between 25,000 and 30,000 naira (191 dollars), depending on the sex of the baby.
Another 17 pregnant girls were discovered in southern Anambra state in October 2011 under similar circumstances.
The United Nations cultural agency UNESCO has previously identified human trafficking as the third most common crime in Nigeria, behind fraud and drug trafficking.

Lawmaker Begs Police To Forgive Militia That Killed Over 60 Police Officers In Nasarawa.

Every one is crying out for peace, who is crying out for Justice? - Peter Tosh

Lawmaker Begs Police To Forgive Militia That Killed Over 60 Police Officers In Nasarawa.

A member of the House of Representatives; Joseph Kigbu on Thursday urged the House to appeal to authorities of the Nigeria Police Force to forgive the militia group; Ombatse, that killed over 60 police officers in an ambush in Nasarawa state.

Representative Kigbu urged the militia to embrace peace and find an amicable solution to the crisis that has claimed an untold number of lives.

The House leadership also urged the force to let go of any plan to retaliate against the killing its personnel by a suspected cult group.

Lawmakers condemned the attack on the police officers who were ambushed on a mission to dislodge the group, but urged restraint. They pledged to institute a team to reach out to the spouses of the slain officers.

Leading the debate on the killings, Mr Kigbu stated that within six months, the state has lost many people as a result of similar clashes.

He urged the federal government and Nasarawa state government to dialogue with the group involved in the killings instead of retaliating.

“We cannot condone it anymore as the crisis if not checked will stretch to the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja,” Mr. Haruna warned.

Chinese Man Keeps Himself Alive For 13 Years Using Homemade Dialysis Machine.

This is Really cool! Desperate times they say, calls for Desperate measures! Each one of us should endeavour to be creative! This is scary though!

Chinese Man Keeps Himself Alive For 13 Years Using Homemade Dialysis Machine.

Consumers who think items made in China are inferior and useless may think twice after reading this —but are cautioned not to try this at home.

A Chinese man suffering from kidney disease, Hu Songwen, has kept himself alive for 13 years using a homemade dialysis machine, UK’s Daily Mail reported.

“The cost for each home treatment is only 60 yuan (£6 or P391), which is 12 percent of the hospital charge for dialysis,” it quoted Hu as saying.

Hu, a resident of a rural area in East China, built the contraption after he could no longer afford high hospital bills.
The machine, used thrice a week, is made of kitchen utensils and old medical instruments.
Also, Hu used disused medical equipment, such as a blood pump and plastic tubing.

The Daily Mail report said Hu was diagnosed with kidney disease in 1993, while he was a college student.
While he initially underwent dialysis in hospitals, his savings ran out after six years – leaving him no choice but to make his own machine.

Not even the death of two friends who tried to build and use similar homemade machines fazed him.
‘External kidney’
The Daily Mail report said Hu’s machine works like an external kidney, with blood pumped through one half of the machine, and the dialysis fluid pumped through the other half.

Hu’s dialysis fluid is a mix of potassium chloride, sodium chloride and sodium hydrogen carbonate (bicarbonate), and purified water.

“For the treatment, he inserts two tubes into his arm, which are connected to his dialysis machine. The blood is pumped out of his arm through one of the tubes, is filtered and then returned to his body via the other tube,” the report said.

When the blood and dialysis fluid go through the machine, excess minerals go from his blood and through the membrane to the fluid.

This removes the waste products from his blood and the fluid is later thrown away. The “clean” blood is then pumped back into his body.

On the other hand, Hu said the nearest public hospital to his home is not only too far away, but also too crowded.
Doctors’ warning.

On the other hand, doctors warned Hu may risk serious infection and long-term complications by not using sterile water to make the fluid.

But Hu, who lives with his 81-year-old mother in Qutang township of Jiangsu Province, says he has limited options.
The Chinese government also offered medical aid to Hu when his story sparked national interest following media reports.
But Hu said he was reluctant to switch as the nearest hospital is far away and very crowded.

World's Fact.

Rituals Allegation: PROPHET AYORINDE ABANDONS CHURCH FOR SENIOR PASTOR, As Mass Exodus Hit WEBC

My Opinion? That people stopped going to the Church? Someone else is performing better Miracles! And hey, most people are church goers! They are not believers! And the Prophet on the other hand, should stop the run, and face it!  He shouldn't give the impression he is waiting for the heat to die down before showing up! What is,"he only comes to the Ojota/Ogudu Head Quarters ones a month cus"... Na wah!   Abi my people?

--------------------------------------------------------
Rituals Allegation: PROPHET AYORINDE ABANDONS CHURCH FOR SENIOR PASTOR, As Mass Exodus Hit WEBC

Prophet Samson Ayorinde of the World Evangelism Bible Church, with headquarters in Ojota, Lagos, has described as untrue the festering allegation that he buried a human being in his church premises so as to continue to enjoy massive patronage. The minister of the gospel who trained as an architect and hails from Ilorin, Kwara State also denied relocating abroad due to the devastating impact of the unpleasant allegation on his ministry.

During our visit to the church (situated on 51/53, Ogudu Road, beside Kosofe local government secretariat, Ojota, Lagos), on Monday, April 8, 2013, at about 12 noon, the security man who identified himself simply as Timothy directed us to the new Resident Pastor and new man in charge, one Harold Chinonyerem. Adorning a gray shirt and black trousers, he first scolded the security man for allowing a press man into the church without first clearing from him before attending to us.

On being intimated with our mission, he said: “Those who said the church used to be more than this in terms of population may be right, because about 6-7 years ago, we used to block the whole street during our services and we normally conducted four to five services on Sundays. But they should also remember that at that time, we only had this church building in the whole of Lagos and all our followers were coming from far and near to worship at this headquarters church, but now we have over 40 branches in Lagos alone; more than 10 branches in the United Kingdom and over 20 branches scattered across Europe.

“So, what would you say now if I tell you that the Prophet was here in church on Sunday, April 7, 2013 for the church’s monthly Holy Communion? What would you also say if I tell you that the Prophet is still in Lagos at present and that you might even meet him before you leave us today? I have been a member of this church for over 10 years and I’ve pioneered two churches; one at Isolo, Lagos, about three years ago and another one in Port-Harcourt, where I was before I was appointed as the Resident Pastor of this headquarters church. For some years now, the Prophet has made it a must to be in the Lagos headquarters church every month for the monthly Holy Communion service and he has not missed it more than once since that time.

“That the man of God ran away from Lagos is a lie from the pit of hell. He used to be in Lagos frequently before because all his followers are in Lagos, but now that they are scattered all across the world, he needs to visit them and show his love, care and fatherly attitude to as many nations as he can touch. The rumour is unfounded and I’m sure if the Prophet hears about this, he would laugh over it because I’m sure you might have been hearing something of this nature before now, so we are used to it”.

But persisting with their allegation, our sources countered thus: “What were you expecting before? Were you expecting the church or whoever you spoke to, to say it’s true? Of course, they wouldn’t have done that. And for you to know that something is wrong somewhere I just want you to examine these: Why would the General Overseer leave his headquarters for a Resident Pastor? Secondly, can the Pope leave the Vatican City, the headquarters of the Catholic Church or even Pastor E.A Adeboye leave The Redeemed Camp in the hands of a Resident Pastor or even Bishop David Oyedepo leave The Canaanland for a Resident Pastor?

“Another thing that will tell you that something is wrong somewhere is that the crowd that we used to know the church with has deserted it. Even the man’s midnight prayer programme on LTV or MITV has also stopped. But we pray he survives the wicked rumour because if you encounter the Prophet one on one, you will surely like him. He’s quiet, talks slowly and appears to me like a gentleman”. A native of Rore, Ilorin, Kwara State, Ayorinde is the second of his parents’ five children. His father was a carpenter and his mother, a house wife.

Born on October 6, 1961, he attended St. Michael’s Primary School and Ilorin Grammar School. Thereafter, he proceeded to Kwara State Polytechnic; from there, he moved to Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria where he bagged his first degree and Master’s in Architecture. Metamorphosing into a lecturer at ABU, his ministry started in 1995 with only 20 people in Zaria, Kaduna State. This was after he had been bought for the Lord by Prof. D.B Olumeyan, also a lecturer in the school. From Zaria, he relocated to Lagos after three years and little by little, his growth started. His ‘Miracle Service’, then held every Tuesday, used to be jampacked. Likewise his monthly programme, ‘Anointing Night’, which used to hold inside the premises of LTV in Agidingbi, Lagos and sometimes at the mainbowl of the National Stadium, Surulere, Lagos. Both programmes used to attract thousands of people. Married to Mercy and blessed with four children (Peace, Praise, Perez and Priscilla), even his television and radio ministry, PROPHET SAMSON AYORINDE LIVE, which used to air three times in a week, has also stopped.
